Culture and Expectations: Building Customers Culture is one of the concept that occur from many different factors also most of authors from many different fields are examine culture and cultural factors for making analysis of human characteristics. I am going to analyse cultural factors deeply for understanding international marketing better. Also I will focus on how Cultural factors affects to marketing policies and I will try to explain each factors with some relevant examples. Cultural differences how can affect social expenditures at abroad and how can international marketers market their goods and services at abroad perfectly Culture plays a vital role in expectations building of customers and helps in determining the alleged way of customers regarding service delivery (Tansik and Chase 1988, cited by Mattila 1999, p.02) It is very hard to defined culture but simply culture shows all people of one nation or societies Identities. Everybody in those societies is give similar reactions for similar situations. Also different group of society gives different reaction for the same situation. If I want to explain culture in one sentence that culture is similarities of differentiations. People who live in America can laugh to Japanese people because of their life style or Japanese people can think the same think for Americans and may be they can say how crazy they are because of their cultures or life styles. For example American people like big, smart, fast and comfortable cars but Japanese people do not drive such noisy, fast, big and bombastic cars Culture is so important for marketers and especially for international marketers. The way for success at international marketing goes from culture. Good marketers try to understand people who live at their target market and after they introduce their goods and services with the reasonable best methods. Otherwise no body expect from Japanese marketers to sell their cars to American people with successfully. I am saying successfully because those little people did it. They are one of the best car sellers in the world with their own brand. That brand name is Toyota. Maybe 50 years ago any one from America thought to use Japanese cars or even they could not think if Japans can manufacture cars. I am going to give detailed information about Toyota and their marketing strategies at the next part of my assignment but before I want to focus on Culture and factors of cultures for understanding differentiations among the nations. I believe that work will be very useful for new international ma rketers International Marketing Marketing the goods and services to other nations named as international marketing. World is globalising and competition among the firms are growing. Most of companies which win this competition are becoming Global Firms and they are serving everywhere in the earth and those companies are marketing their goods and services like in their home country. What are the difficulties of international marketing? I will try to answer this question in this section of my assignment. According to Usiner (1996) the main difficulty of international marketing must be Cultural differences. If Usiner and other authors are right at their this view I should looked what kind of elements are shapes humans life Elements of Culture Language Religion Values and Attitudes Manners and Customs Material Elements Aesthetics Education Social Institutions Language: Language is the key element for entering the new market or selling new products in the target markets because it is very important to introduce the goods and services at in a foreign country. Language not only meaning a verbal language for an international marketer also language contains everything about those people who using it. Toyota is a Japanese brand but in the earth everybody knows Toyota is the biggest Automotive Brand and people from Africa to America trust this name. Mainly Japanese people speak Japanese but wherever if Toyota manufacture or market their products, They start to communicate with those people, We are understanding this from Toyota`s corona models history at America. Toyota corona was totally responding American society`s requirements. Religion: Religions are affects humans life styles and their culture. Religion can be used as a gun for marketers but I do not recommend it. A good marketer should respect religions if they want to be successful and also they should be careful about using harmful or racist approaches for religions and their followers at every time. When I looked at the graphics below it can be helpful to understand importance of respect religions at all time. Christianity: 2.1 billion Islam: 1.5 billion Secular/Nonreligious/Agnostic/Atheist:1.1 Million Hinduism: 900 million Chinese traditional religion: 394 million Buddhism: 376 million May be it can be hard to understand importance of marketing strategies according to member of religions but when we looked at food and beverage sector it going to be easy to realize. Moslem nations do not purchase haram (forbidden by Islam) foods and beverages, Hindu nations generally become vegetarian because of their religion. Such a important differences have have to be considered by international marketers. Also I can imagine If Toyota made any advertisements which may annoy one of the members of religion; those people would definitely protest the Toyota forever. Values and Attitudes Values are the basic notion/convictions of what is right and wrong and values are fairly stable over time. Notional disagreement is a gap between two values or among values and behaviors. Attitudes are feelings and tempers that affect behavior and may change frequently. According to definition values and attitudes are just a concept and those are about personal feelings and treatments. And generally people meet under the similar feelings and treatments. Because of this meeting Values and attitudes are very important at shaping the cultural differences among the nations. The most difficult thing in the earth might be changing ideas. No one can accept cross ideas easily. Because of this situation international marketers have to debate values and attitudes while they are marketing their products and services at abroad. According to Toyota Production System (TPS): the lean management: the key managerial values and attitudes needed to sustain continuous improvement in the long run. The core management principles are articulated around the twin pillars of Continuous Improvement and Respect for People. Manners and Customs: The biggest differentiation of manners from religions that Manners are formed by people but religions ruled by God. Manners can change by the time but both religions and manners ask people to be good. Manners are accepted by one group of people. If in that group somebody does not follow the rules of manners others can think about him or her bad thinks but nobody judge them. Customs are only treatments that become habitats with repeating actions by the time. Customs can be good customs or bad customs but manners always ask for to be good. International marketers have to understand their target markets` technological superiorities because this power can affect marketing strategies. Aesthetics: Aesthetics is a combination of feeling about beauty. But beauty is not the same for everybody. Aesthetics is generalisation of beauty. For example looking, smelling, tasting, touching and feeling are sensible with sense organs. And sense organs give good or bad reactions according to feelings and aesthetics occur with those good feelings. If Group of people feel good things and give similar reaction for the same situations that affects those people`s cultures at the end. Importance of aesthetics for marketers, they have to market their goods and services to their target markets according to those nations beauty and aesthetics comprehensions Education: The aim of education should be to teach us rather how to think, than what to think-rather to improve our minds, so as to enable us to think for ourselves, than to load the memory with the thoughts of other men. At the low educational level countries visual advertisements must prefer rather than destined advertisements Social Institutions: A complex of positions, roles, norms and values lodged in particular types of social structures and organizing relatively stable patterns of human activity with respect to fundamental problems in producing life-sustaining resources, in reproducing individuals, and in sustaining viable societal structures within a given environment. (Turner 1997: 6) Social intuitions are has some structural differences from country to country for example, education systems do not have to be the same at every country or police and military can have different roles for make lives easier. Professional International marketers can easily aware of differentiations among the nations and so they can have advantages on marketing their goods and services at abroad. Part B Introduction At the second part of this assignment I am going to analyze Cateora and Ghauri`s statement about importance of experience at marketing. Why experienced marketers can be more successful then inexperienced marketers on marketing their goods or services? Cateora and Ghauri believe that most of inexperienced marketers fall in mistakes at aspect of cultures. I have already survey elements of culture at first part of this assignment Language, Religion, Values and Attitudes, Manners and Customs, Material Elements, Aesthetics, Education and Social Institutions are all defined at Part A. These elements are the central core part of cultures and culture are shaped by those elements. Every nation has their own cultural aspects but international marketer have to look those aspects very carefully. Sometimes those cultural elements can seen similar at different nations and because of those similarities international marketers can fail at those failure. Author is describing that failure as illusion. If I give an example, language: Language is a subject with language people can communicate but it does not mean learning foreign languages for understanding people better. Communication mean is not only talking and making agreements for international marketers also a good international marketer should understand him or her target market correctly. For e xample English is a Language Americans, Australians, British and many other nations speak English and most of international agreements made in English language. But many time Americans get difficulties to understand British. Similar situations occur at some Turkish speaker countries as well. For example Turkey Turks many times have understanding difficulties to Azeri or Cyprus Turks` speaking languages in fact all Turks speak Turkish Languages. Experience is jump to business in this kind of cases and those people short the understanding problems easily because they know from their experience that when Cyprus Turk says are you complete Experienced people who know Cyprus culture understand what is the meaning of are you complete and says I am fine thank you. But inexperienced people about Cyprus culture only struggle with the meanings of the words Today Toyota is one of the biggest worldwide company and Toyota marketers are marketing their product all over the world as they learn from Edward Demings at the end of World War 2. Yes you heard the real American name in Japan. Edward Demings was one of the most important managers of Toyota. He introduce to America to Toyota cars as better cars then original American cars. He was an American and he was knowing very well what Americans like or hate. And he had checked detailed at American market for improve Toyota`s specialties. This principle of learning very well of the target markets` demand and needs always became Toyota`s business strategy and so after all this studied Toyota call this studies as kaizen or continuous development all the world accepted Toyota as a world brand. Toyota always tries to learn and improve them from production to marketing process at everywhere. Conclusion From part A I have analyze culture and elements of culture for international marketing and I saw that differences growths competitions among nations or marketers. Today our world is globalizing and cultural differences are become determinant factors at business life. Language, Religion, Values and Attitudes, Manners and Customs, Material Elements, Aesthetics, Education and Social Institutions are some of most relevant factors in the earth and those elements shapes culture. International marketers should be careful when they are preparing marketing policies for different cultures From part B I have analyze importance of experience factor at marketing. Cultural factors very important at marketing and marketers should analyze cultural differences perfectly but how much if a marketer from different culture think he or she knows everything about his or her target market, he or she can fail at very simple mistakes. But to be experienced is always gives better change to be successful at marketing. Also I have learnt in the second part about key man of Toyota who made Toyota a world brand. Abraham and Sarah

Abraham and Sarah The story of Abraham and Sarah is an important one, especially because Abraham is the father (and Sarah the mother) of the Israelite nation. When looked at from a broad point of view, this story of an ancient family and their relationship with God becomes a parable which teaches others to put their trust in God and provides examples of how to live a righteous life in the eyes of this God. When looked at from a narrower point of view, one can examine the motivations and personalities of the individuals this story focuses on.Abraham is born blessed because he is the ancestor of Shem and Sarah shares in this blessing because she is his wife. However, Abraham receives an even greater blessing from God, after the death of his father, when he is promised not only a blessed life, but also a multitude of descendents who will share in his blessing and come to make up God’s chosen people. Though Abraham and Sarah express a deep faith in their God, they show difficultie s in trusting his words, but this lack of trust allows for their relationship with God to be developed through acts by both parties.God intervenes on their behalf, constantly affirming his covenant with Abraham, and Abraham and Sarah consistently act in ways which prove their righteousness and that they are deserving of this great blessing. The development of Abraham and Sarah, through the story of their lives, not only demonstrates the power and emotions of God and the maturation of their relationship with God, but also the maturation of themselves and their faith in God. Abraham is an essential character, not only in the biblical story of his life but, more importantly, in the biblical history of the Israelite nation.However, Abraham was not a flawless person and it is through the choices and actions that he carried out, both right and wrong, that his character can be understood. On one hand, Abraham represents an ideal follower of God, not only is he personally chosen to be bless ed by God but, he also listens obediently and shows a strong concern for the well-being of others. Abraham is initially blessed because he is a descendent of Shem who was blessed by Noah, however, he receives a much greater blessing than the one he was born with at the age of seventy-five.It is at this time that God tells Abraham â€Å"Go from your country, your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. † (Genesis 12. 1-3) Abraham, along with his wife Sarah, his nephew Lot, his slaves, and his possessions, left Haran, where he had settled, and went to the â€Å"land of Canaan. † (Genesis 12. 5) This instance is also the first show of Abraham’s obedience to God.Abraham’s next show of obedience comes after God grants Abraham an even greater blessing. When Abraham is ninety-nine years old, God comes to him with a co venant to make him â€Å"the ancestor of a multitude of nations†¦and kings† and along with this blesses Sarah with the promise of a son and a blessing equal to Abraham’s for her descendents. Because of their blessings, God gives Abram the name Abraham and Sarai the name Sarah and as a sign of his covenant, God asks that Abraham and all the males in his household be circumcised.Abraham â€Å"circumcised the flesh of their foreskins that very day,† once again showing his obedience to God. Abraham’s greatest show of obedience to God comes when God tests Abraham by asking him to sacrifice his only son Isaac as a burnt offering and Abraham sets out to do so the next morning. Abraham, once again, demonstrates exceptional obedience to God, not only proving his character but also his faith, â€Å"for it is Abraham’s actions that gave shape and substantive reality to the God to whom the action was directed.Abraham’s action established his faith as well as the traditions of faith it set in motion. † (Delaney 22) Abraham’s story does more than to present him as thoughtful of God; it also provides examples of Abraham’s thoughtfulness of others. When Abraham hears that his nephew, Lot, has been kidnapped, he quickly set out with three hundred and eighteen trained men to retrieve him. Abraham shows his thoughtfulness of others again when God tells him of his plans to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, Abraham barters with God in an attempt to save the lives of the people living there.These events and Abraham’s reactions to them show what a considerate person Abraham was which also helps to solidify his worthiness as the ancestor of God’s chosen people. Though Abraham demonstrates an exceptional amount of faith in God, it is not unwavering, however, this occasional lack of faith helps to expand on his character. Twice in his travels, Abraham asks Sarah to pretend to be his sister because he is fearful that he will be killed so that she may be taken as a bride, even though God reminds Abraham that he is safe from harm after the first instance.These events help to remind readers of Abraham’s humanity, he faces normal challenges for someone with his lifestyle including â€Å"the vulnerability of the nomad to the whims of nature on the one hand, and, on the other, his desperate need for the foodstuffs of the settled culture with the implied powerlessness which goes with such dependency. † (White 178-179) When looked at from this perspective, Abraham’s lapses in faith become reasonable, but the choice of the author to include these instances can be explained further.When Adam and Eve ate the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, they forever changed the thought processes of humankind, and as part of this, â€Å"[Abraham] now lives out of his anticipation of the future. † (White 179) Humans are now aware of evil and Abraham’s fears represe nt this. Through this further examination, it becomes evident why these less proud moments of Abraham’s life are included in his story, because of the way in which these choices help to humanize him and further explain his character.Though Sarah is developed much less than her husband, she is still a pivotal character in both this biblical story and the biblical history of the Israelite nation. Sarah is presented as a strong woman, she shows faith in God and devotion to her duties as a wife and it is through her struggle with motherhood that her character is most developed. Though Sarah is not born blessed, she comes to share in Abraham’s blessing by God for themselves and their descendants, however, the events of Sarah’s life presented in the Bible make her life seem like much more of a struggle than Abraham’s.Twice she risks her well being for the sake of her husband’s fears, even though she is pregnant the second time and it is very possible tha t first time she did not get away without a sexual encounter with the Pharaoh. Her feelings on theses events are not presented, though one can only imagine her own fears in being given, so willingly, as an object for other men. It is important to remember that the connotations of Sarah’s treatment were not what they are today, but it seems that Sarah’s protection from God was not as whole as Abraham’s.The major issue in the development of Sarah’s character is her inability to conceive a child and the struggles she faces because of this. Sarah’s initial solution to her dilemma is to give her slave Hagar to her husband so that she may provide him with children in an indirect manner. This decision causes many problems later in the story but it is important to note the reasoning behind Sarah’s choice, â€Å"legal contracts unearthed at Nuzu make it evident that a childless wife was actually obliged to do what Sarah did, unless she preferred to see her husband choose another wife for himself.She was unlikely to prefer this-it was a far less evil if the supplementary wife would be someone over whom she had some control, that she might keep her superior position in the household. † (Vawter 139) The difficulties Sarah must have faced in making this decision and the added â€Å"slap in the face† that she must have felt from Hagar conceiving after only being with Abraham on one occasion, when she was not able to conceive after ten years is unimaginable for most and demonstrates the true emotional strength that Sarah must have had.Sarah’s challenges affect more than just her, â€Å"Sarah holds Abram responsible for Hagar’s treatment of her, and a rift develops between Sarah and Abram as is evident by the strong language with which she addresses him. Sarah’s first words to her husband are accusatory. She exclaims: ‘May the wrong done to me be upon you. ’† (the word wrong havin g violent connotations) (Jeansonne 20) Though most of Sarah’s life is made difficult by her barrenness, she gets a reprieve from God in her old age.When Sarah is ninety years old, God blesses her with a promise that she will conceive a son and that God will establish a covenant with that child â€Å"as an everlasting covenant for his offspring after him. † (Genesis 17. 19) Both Sarah and Abraham laugh when they hear that Sarah is to conceive at such an old age. This reaction is represented by the name God chooses for their son, Isaac, which translates as â€Å"he laughs. † This laughter is also a good example of how Abraham and Sarah are like every one else, they â€Å"believed the substance of God’s promise but doubted the details. (Vawter 146) Having Isaac is perhaps the greatest accomplishment of Sarah’s life and after giving birth to him, â€Å"Her response is one of joy an personal triumph†¦Her words imply that no one will again be able to deride her for being childless, but they also indicate that she recognizes the incredible reality she has conceived and given birth. † (Jeansonne 27) The difficulties Sarah has faced throughout her life with her inability to conceive in a time when bearing children was the main purpose of a wife, were finally over, at a time in her life when she had completely given up on any hopes of it.This fulfillment of Sarah’s wishes is only made better by the fact that her son has a blessing from God for a good life and important descendants. When Sarah gave birth to Isaac she became not just a mother to him, but also a mother to the nation of God’s chosen people. With the birth of Isaac, Sarah gains another thing that is important to her; she regains her power in her household. With this power, Sarah chooses to make Hagar and Ishmael leave, â€Å"Cast out this slave woman with her son; for the son of this slave woman shall not inherit along with my son Isaac. † (Genesis 21. 0) Sarah is not mentioned again after this until her death at age one hundred twenty-seven, However, â€Å"although Sarah will no longer figure in Abraham’s life, her death prompts him to procure an important title to the land†¦Although all of the land of Canaan was promised to Abraham by God, this is the first instance in Genesis where Abraham has legal possession of a portion of it. Sarah’s death plays a genuine part in Abraham’s procurement of this portion of the covenantal promise. † (Jeansonne 29) Abraham and Sarah are the father and mother of God’s chosen people, a title that can be held by only two people in the history of mankind.Their story serves as an example and a reference to God’s followers and their descendants. Though Abraham and Sarah are presented as having lived a righteous life in the eyes of their God, they are, by no means, presented as flawless and it is through further examination of their flaws that they can be understood more completely. Abraham and Sarah were not divine and perfect beings, they were two human beings that faced many difficulties, had many fears, and struggled to find happiness.The sense of normalcy about Abraham and Sarah does more than just allow for an expansion of their character; it provides a realistic example to other followers of this God. This story shows that a blessing by God does not mean a life without difficulty and that God is watching out for his followers, even when it may not seem that way. The story of Abraham shows others to put their faith in God, and he will provide, and no matter how precarious the situation seems, God is watching over those whom he has promised to look out for.The story of Sarah shows others that â€Å"good things come to those who wait,† and to never give up on God, no matter how things may seem, God can always execute his plans. Their story represents the beginnings of the Israelite nation and is a history for those who believe in it, but it transcends the historical as a parable for others who wish to follow the example that Abraham and Sarah have provided so that they may live a righteous life in the eyes of their God. CEO Simon Brocklebank Fowler

Logan McFarland Mrs.. Voss Strachey BAA 366 28 November 2013 CEO – Simon Breakneck Fowler 1 . Simon Breakneck Fowler is a great CEO and an even better leader. He can sell anything. Simon obviously has perfected many organizational behavior concepts as he has grown throughout his lifetime even though he did not elaborate on which ones specifically. Simon went to Cambridge, which is a top level secondary school in the ASK. Simon ended up switching from a history major to finance and ended up working for a bank. Simon also ended up running for Parliament but was unsuccessful, although he did learn a lot wrought that experience.Along with working for a bank, Simon also has worked for a consultant agency and as a price performance salesman. He worked for a failing franchise and had to sell things straight on his credibility alone. Simon stated that he had to do a lot of research to help sell his pitch to his consumers. He ended up being promoted in 3 months because he worked so har d on his pitches and was blowing all of the veterans out of the water. He then ended up going to Castigate, which is a smaller firm, but he actually had people working for him which gave him leverage.Castigate went from 200 o 2,000 people in 4 years in different countries making this company a global company. By making Castigate a global company, their profits grew significantly in size and increased the brand recognition of Castigate. Simon is a great leader in many ways. When he walks into a room, you can feel his presence. Simon does not only look in the presence, but in the future as well. He told our class, â€Å"ask yourself ever year what does success look like in 1 year? How about in 10 years? † Simon knows that the world is always adapting and is telling us we have to adapt with it if we want to be successful.Simon is also always trying to get better. He told us, â€Å"Is what your doing right now making your boat go faster? † This means that whatever your foc us is on today, is it going to help you succeed in life? I believe this bit of advice was awesome because I find myself being unproductive some days and my boat is not going faster but instead staying the same. Simon had led some of the most high profile financial and corporate communications and networking campaigns in Europe over the last decade. He has particularly worked as a CEO or another leader position and has succeeded with his unsurpassed networking ability in he eyes of stakeholders.Overall, I believe Simon is a great CEO and a natural born leader. 2. I believe that the company, Cubit Consulting, Simon is leading right now is successful. Although it has its up and downs, Simon is eager to hire brilliant people and grown his business. One marker that Simony's business is going well is that it grew significantly from 200 to 2,000 people in just 4 years. No business would grow that rapidly without a great demand for the business that they do. I also believe Simon has the abi lity to keep this company on top with his managerial skills along with his banking kills and salesman skills. 3. Eel like I would definitely want to work for this company because I would learn a lot. Simon has had an exponential amount of experience with many different aspects of business and I belief if I took away just 10% of what Simon has learned being in the business world, I will be close to ready to running my own business. Along with the experience would take from the job, would take the ideology of Simon along with me as well. Know no average person can turn a company back around faster than Simon. If could learn Simony's ideology on how he gets things back on track ND deals with conflict, it would do wonders for me.Overall, I believe if I worked for this company, it would prepare me for whatever I wanted to do in the business world. 4. This company does face some challenges in the next five years. The employees that are working for Simon as of now have no alternative to th e best at what they do. The employees might want to work in one aspect of the business but they might be the best at another aspect and Simon believes it is hard to convince his employees of that. Another thing would be building a group of people who challenge each other but share similar ideals within the company.The last challenge would have to be trying to build internal networks and alliances, which is very hard. Some of these challenges seem daunting but I believe Simon help to conquer these challenges in no time. 5. This company does face some opportunities in the next five years. Simon believes that his employees are getting better and better at work and thinks they are adapting and learning from the tasks that are assigned from them. Believe this is very important for a company because if you stay stagnant, you will not learn from previous mistakes.Simon also believes an opportunity he could grasp would to help his employees and himself would be to delegate and train more ra ther than just do. 6. Simon gave our class some great advice for business in the future. Some advice he gave was, â€Å"it doesn't matter how good you are, if the business is going the wrong way, you won't be successful – get into a business or industry that is going the right way and you are more likely to be successful. † I thought this was very reasonable advice. Another piece of advice he gave was, â€Å"to become a successful entrepreneur you have to have the confidence in yourself to believe you can make a difference. Simon also believes in repairing for the worst and said to build in your strategy that something will go wrong. He said, â€Å"10% of life is what happens to you. 90% of life is what you do about it. Always have a plan B, you never know what's going to happen. † I think this advice has really helped me with my thinking in maybe trying to manage conflict in the future. Sometimes I cannot effect what has happened to me but I can do something a bout it and respond positively to the negative things that happen to me in life. Overall, I think his advice and expertise has taught me a ton in this interview.

The Impact Of Religion On The Public School System

Throughout the course of history, religion has left a lasting impact upon society. It is clear that our civilization is progressively becoming more secular; however, religion still remains evident throughout society. Though as science continues to progress, the demand and involvement of religion within the public school system has categorically diminished. After Darwin’s Origin of Species, science in the last century has undoubtedly become reigning influence on world’s views. Scientific analysis has led to conclusions that provide an alternate justification for the origin of life, countering many widespread religious beliefs. According to previous attempts to present creationism in the classroom, an unwavering majority suggests this would not be ethically sound. From this persistent debate, emerges a theory called Intelligent Design. According to the Center for Science and Culture, Intelligent Design is a scientific theory that employs methods commonly used by other historical sciences to conclude features of the universe and living things are best explained by an intelligent cause, not an undirected process such as natural selection. Also, ID is not based on the Bible, and implies that humans are able to observe evidence of intelligent design through nature. The ID theory suggests theistic realism. While many people of faith have been able to reconcile the ideas of literal creation and evolution by natural selection, scholars on both sides of this debate press the idea that this reconciliation is impossible. Popular belief renders science and religion incompatible. Thus, would that make it unethical to present Intelligent Design in the classroom? A precarious proposal, at the very least, but with little compromise of the latter, it is worth the consideration. This notion raises several concerns that must be specified.
